GROUND PENETRATING RADAR

Radar surveys work by launching pulses of energy into the soil or ground from the antenna. These pulses are reflected by any subsurface objects that may be present.

The radar system is then able to measure the position and depth of any objects found and thus enable a thorough picture to develop the underground infrastructure.

The benefits of using Ground Penetrating Radar is the ability to detect non-metallic utilities such as PVC water and gas pipes. As well as having the ability to detect conductive and non-conductive utilities, Ground Penetrating Radars can also detect underground tanks, voids and cavities.

Dual Radar

United Utilities uses the state-of-the-art dual-frequency radar unit Leica Duo that can simultaneously scan two different levels, enabling us to record depths of 0-1m (high frequency) and 1-3+m (lower frequency) , saving a great deal of time and money.
